depending on my own taste and the technical possibilities my home page changed many, many times. on the following pages you get a short overview over the history of my home page.
beginning
i started my first home page in 1994 when i set up my first web server ever. i was working at berlin's social science research center as graduate assistant and my job was to set up and maintain a web server on a pc-based 486 linux system. you can see this machine (named duplox) on the picture to the right.
the word wide web
before that time i used only gopher and anonymous ftp to provide information to the internet's public and i was brim over with enthusiasm for www as soon as i noticed how easily you can set up a web server. setting up a gopher server was a real pain.
